I know it started a couple of months ago but tonight Liverpool have the chance to make it into the group stages of this overblown excuse of a European Competition & if they do there will be an unprecedented 5 teams from the English Premier League in the group stages. This is really going to bugger up the league program from now until Christmas.

What does everyone else think? Is it a good thing or are there too many teams & lot of teams that should not be there.

My kids are going tonight but I am treating it with the contempt it deserves & will boycott all our games until the Final. Tonight I will be down the Pool Table End in the Kings Arms watching the game with a cheeky bet on Hoffenhiem at 11/1 to get through the tie.

And so the madness begins

I was nervous about last night, glad it's over. One of the English teams is bound to end up in a group of death with Bayern, Barcelona and Celtic. I hope it's Spurs and not us.

I'd happily take a group of death, rather play the big boys than Russian minnows on frozen pitches. Bring 'em all on.

Good draw. Uniteds group looks very doable and Liverpool being in pot 3 couldnt have wished for an easier group. Chelsea and Spurs have it tough going and Celtic got all the glamour ties they probably hoped for.

As you say, couldn't of hoped for a more favourable draw than that, it's almost too good, we never do well as favourites.

Draw takes far too long and should be simplified so that the drawn out team comes out in the next available group rather than about 5 more draws to see which group, position in group etc.

Either that or i'm getting less patient in my older age.

Hardly a first match can define something yet, so the ties were good so far

Looking forward to this tonight :D Basel are one of those teams that always seem to cause problems even when they shouldn't but I'm expecting a good result :cool

What a waste of time these games were? Juventus put the reserves out at Barcelona knowing that they could lose the game & then go & beat Olympicos & Sporting & waltz through to the knock out. Celtic got taken to the cleaners by PSG, just like Basel, Qarabag etc.. To be honest the gulf in class between some of the teams was embarrassing.

Tomorrow we play Seville & to see the game & enjoy the Champions League experience will cost my kids £53 each. I shall be down the pool table end again in the Kings Arms (free chips & hot dogs at half time)

Well yesterday had been 3 quite logical results. Barca didn't play so good but found the way through Messi.

Happy with the win, Fellaini showboating just goes to show the transformation in our confidence, shame about Pogba's injury though but hopefully it'll be a quick one. Rashford has scored on basically every debut he's ever had - http://www.skysports...utd-and-england - usually within minutes of coming on :lol

As for tonight, has to be Spurs v Dortmund really doesn't it? If this doesn't help them get in the Wembley mood then nothing will.

Great result for Spurs. Kanes finishing is brilliant. All Premier League clubs off to a flyer in the Champions League bar Liverpool. Who in the end were lucky not to lose. Also another red card in back to back games.

If Sevilla had more firepower and used their possesion to good effect, that could have been a home thrashing for Liverpool. Why Liverpool (Sevilla aside), recieved such a favourable draw for finishing 4th is anyones guess, I can still see them ffuking it up, especially with their trips to Russia and Spain, and possibly even the home game against Spartak. Anyway they will still finish 3rd ahead of Maribor and then probably go on to win the Europa and that will be seen as a huge success as they finish outside the top 4 and Klopp will be rewarded with another bumper contract, hug everyone and break another pair of glasses in another annoying OTT celebration and still do bugger all with their abysmal defence and wont be expected to.

Kane is easily one of the best forwards around, gotta love a proper striker.

Good start for, most of, the English clubs.

It's been a while since last  CL winner from UK, Chelsea if I'm not wrong. It's too early but at least we can have some hope

Early days & any prediction on who will win this overblown tournament is fraught with danger, but a big chance for clubs from the Premier League.

Stupid defensive mistakes cost us (now how often do we say that?) against Seville & we had more than enough chances to put them to the sword. We just ran out of steam in the 2nd half & they took advantage. A good game in which the sending off was out of character.
