Wolverhampton Wanderers are close to signing Birmingham City defender Roger Johnson after the two clubs agree a £7m fee, the Press Association reports.

Good signing this for Wolves, Johnson had to force the move after 3 bids were rejected by Birmingham. Wolves looked weak at the back last season and Johnson is a shrewd signing as is O'Hara for th midfield.

At first I thought £7m was a bit much but considering Birmingham paid £5m for him in the first place, they're well entitled to expect a profit given how well he turned out. Still, English premium and all that...

Yeah but when you look at the fees paid elsewhere these days for mediocre players it looks a good deal for both clubs and the player himself.

When I saw the fee I thought it was a pretty decent buy. I didn't see much of him last season, but the season before he was brilliant and I think he is just the type of player Wolves need.
