Sneijder move to Man United could be back on in January

Wesley Sneijder has told friends that his failed move to Manchester United could still happen in the New Year.

Sunday Mirror Sport understands that United pulled out of a deal for the Dutch international midfielder when the scale of his demands became too rich.

The Premier League champions had agreed a £30million fee with Inter Milan, only for Sneijder to up the ante by asking United to lay on a private jet and buy his house in Italy. That prompted United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to call time on his summer-long chase for the 27-year-old.

But Sneidjer has told people close to him that a move to Old Trafford could be resurrected in January. A source said: “Wesley wanted to go to United and was in negotiations until quite late. They couldn’t agree terms but he is still saying he will end up at United.”

Inter were so desperate to get Sneijder off the payroll that they also offered him to United’s rivals City. But it was made clear to both clubs that it would take a pay deal worth close to £250,000-a-week. City boss Roberto Mancini told his Etihad Stadium bosses that he was not interested in linking up again with Sneijder.

And when Inter enquired for a third and final time last month with an offer to use Sneijder as a makeweight in a deal for Carlos Tevez, they were once again rebuffed.

United keeping tabs on Everton starlet after superb debut

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keeping tabs on Ross Barkley’s progress at Everton – and could make a move for him in January.

Fergie is a huge admirer of the Everton starlet and would love for him to follow in Wayne Rooney’s footsteps from Goodison.

Midfielder Barkley, 17, impressed on his debut against QPR and followed up with a fine performance at Blackburn last weekend.

Please, no more Snjieder talk I can't take it :lol Were not gunna get him, that ships sailed. If there is any truth whatsoever in him asking for a private jet then we definitely wont go back him, that's like the Ronaldinho from PSG thing all over again.

Barkley however, is something I'm willing to listen too.

Manchester United are set to up the ante in their bid to sign Croatian duo Mateo Kovacic and Mario Situm. United scouts were recently alerted to 17-year-old midfielder Kovacic - labelled "the new Messi" - and 19-year-old striker Situm, both of whom play for Dinamo Zagreb.

Chelsea, Manchester City and United in £30m battle for Everton starlet Barkley

The Premier League's big three spenders are preparing for a £30million transfer battle which will shatter the world-record fee for a teenage footballer.

Posted Image

Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City have all made known their interest in Everton's midfield sensation Ross Barkley.
He is seen by some as an even better prospect than another Goodison Park product, Wayne Rooney, and is set to top the £25.6m United paid for the then 18-year-old seven years ago.
Although Everton will fight to hang on to Barkley, who is not 18 until December, their dire financial situation has made them vulnerable to big offers. Barcelona and Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation.
One top representative said: 'I thought Stevie Gerrard was the best kid in his position that I've ever seen, but Barkley is as good. There's no doubt he is going to be a top player.'
Barkley's progress is all the more remarkable following his horrific triple leg fracture playing for England Under-19s in Belgium last year, which put him out for 10 months.
England coach Noel Blake remembers the incident, a collision with team-mate Andre Wisdom, vividly. 'I still don't feel comfortable thinking about it, as it was so upsetting,' he said.
'Thankfully, he has recovered and it shows his strength of character that he has got back so quickly.'

Second coming: Some rate Barkley a better prospect than Rooney

David Moyes has never been afraid to follow the old adage 'if they're good enough, they're old enough'.
But the Everton manager is determined to nurture Barkley's talents at the right pace.
'Evertonians have not got an awful lot to be excited about at the moment so Ross gives everybody something to look at and cling on to,' he said.
'But I will have to pick and choose him at the right times. It is not just because of his age but also because of his lack of football.'
Barkley's future could be a key factor when Moyes decides whether or not to accept a two-year extension to his own contract.

Manchester United and Chelsea keeping an eye on Danish prodigy

Manchester United and Chelsea are said to be monitoring the progress of 19 year-old Danish sensation, Nicolai Boilesen.
Posted Image
The youngster, who earned his professional Ajax debut earlier this year, had already trained with United before deciding to join the Dutch giants instead. Boilesen, who plays alongside compatriot Christian Eriksen at Ajax, also earned his first international call-up in 2011, drawing a heap of European interest in the process.

Both Chelsea and the current Premier League champions have aging senior left-backs with Ashley Cole and Patrice Evra, respectively. The duo have also been linked with moves away from their clubs in recent seasons, with Evra close to signing a deal with Real Madrid last summer.

The Dane also plays at centre-back, a versatility that both Andre Villas Boas and Sir Alex Fergsuon will find promising in a defender of Boilesen’s age. De Amsterdammers, as Ajax are known, are famed for their academy and the ability they have to squeeze the best out of the youth they have at their disposal.

Starlets such as Boilesen are bound to become hot property in the coming transfer windows as Financial Fair Play tightens the clasp on big money transfers spent on players in their prime, with managers instead investing in the youth as investments for the future.

Manchester United eyeing up potential £40m transfer window move for Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan

Manchester United have made Benfica midfielder Nicolás Gaitán a target for the January transfer window, but will have to meet a £40 million release clause to sign him.

Posted Image

Gaitán, who impressed during United’s 1-1 draw against the Portuguese club in a Champions League group fixture last month, has been watched repeatedly by Sir Alex Ferguson’s European scouting team in recent months.
As a result of interest from United, Inter Milan and Paris St Germain, Benfica have secured the 23 year-old to a five-year contract this week, which will see the Argentine more than double his annual salary to £2 million.
But despite increasing Gaitán’s wages, Benfica have been unable to increase the release clause within the player’s contract beyond the existing £40 million trigger fee.
United, who are also monitoring Anderlecht’s Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia, remain in the market for an attacking midfielder after failing in summer attempts to sign Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder and Samir Nasri, who rejected United in favour of a move from Arsenal to Manchester City.
Although Gaitán has largely been deployed as a left-sided winger by Benfica in recent months, the former Boca Juniors player has regularly played in an advanced role behind midfield and attack, a position United have yet to fill following Paul Scholes’s retirement at the end of last season.

United are supposedly closely monitoring A. Dzagoev from CSKA Moscow who like Mario Gotze has been very much likened or compared to Messi or being the next Messi.
