Surprised Panto hasn't commented on this. If you'd asked me at the end of last season if £7 mill was a fair price then I'd have said at least but he hasn't been as consistent this year, partly due to a lack of service but also I think his mind has been firmly on a move. He's a very good player but I think he has yet to prove himself and £7 mill would be a big risk for West Ham.

Everyone is still in shock that we are there.

I saw this on Knees Up Mother Brown; no doubt he has a good goal scoring record, but it smacks a bit of desperation in my opinion. Plus I saw McCoist say in the morning that he was laughing off the bid, then a few hours later in serious tones stating they are in discussion.

If we'd have bid 7 million for Jordan Rhodes I'm sure it would have been accepted. Plus I can't see many doubts that he can make it.

Is Jelavic injured often?

My own opinion is enough for me, and I claim the right to have it defended against any consensus, any majority, anywhere, anyplace, anytime. And anyone who disagrees with this can pick a number, get in line and kiss my arse. - Christopher Hitchens

He was injured last season after a horror tackle by Hearts Ian Black but apart from that has been pretty much injury free. He's much less of a risk than Jordan Rhodes Panto. He definitely has the ability , I just think sometimes his attitude is wrong but maybe that's because he wants his move. He made no bones about the fact that he was using us as a stepping stone so no doubt he will do the same with you.

I don't see Jordan Rhodes as a risk at all. I was referring to you saying about him being inconsistent.

I'm not saying he will be a bad signing, and I'm not saying he won't do what he needs to, I'm saying 7 million is suppose to get you more in the Championship. I'd rather go out and buy 3 prospects in League One and the Championship rather than try and be the Man City of the Football League.

Yeah but Jelavic has scored in Austrian league, SPL, UEFA and champions league and he is also a critical part of Bilic's Croatian national side. Rhodes has done extremely well in the 1st division and under 21 national football and may go on to be real quality in the future but he has a long way to go to be the finished article.

i thought Jelavic has been impressive for yous especially last season although not really seen him much this season. Seems to have the ability as you mentioned. Would you want to sell him at that price in January Big Blue? or for a mill or two more? I also agree with Martin that West Ham if they have that kind of money why not go for a couple to 3 good prospects to bolster the squad long term.

This says so much about the SPL. One of their star players is joining a Championship team. Sad really.
