Sunderand continue to go great guns under Martin O'Neill, whilst Arsenal got back on track with that 7-1 thrashing of Blackburn last weekend. Could be a real cracker this, with any result a possbility.

Would far rather have been playing them under Bruce. We have a terrible recent record in the north-east, in fact it is becoming clear we just don't like it up north at all. Can see us dominating possession and chances as usual and still managing to lose.

Fourth place could slip further away here.

It speaks volumes that even after a 7-1 win the confidence in Arsenal is still nonexistent.

We do have a strong defence for the first time in ages, so hopefully should be able to keep the conceded column fairly low. Hoping for a win, but will settle for a point.

The worst possible time to be playing Sunderland (who are now the in form team in the league)

That midweek extra time cup game at Middlesbrough could well have taken a lot out of them.

Have a feeling Arsenal and their pace up front could take advantage of tired legs

What a joke, Mertesacker under no pressure as the last defender, pulls up and goes down injured, a Sunderland player runs onto the loose ball and scores... :nochance

Finished 1-2. That puts us level on points with Chelsea, who have lost, and a point above Newcastle, who are yet to play. What with Liverpool losing as well, it's been a good weekend so far. Hoping for a draw at the Lane to finish it off nicely.

The match was a bit frustrating; it was the usual embarrassing amount of possession for Arsenal but without much of a cutting edge. Sunderland didn't offer much either, defending deep and not really going for it. It took an unfortunately timed injury to Mertesacker for them to get a chance and score. Two inspired subs got us the goals, with Henry coming up trumps again at the death.

Happy with the result, even if the performance wasn't great. Good stuff.
