Not ideal timing with the window shutting a couple of weeks ago now. McCarthy has done a lot for the club so I guess this is mainly a case of Wolves wanting to try a fresh approach?
Wigan Athletic - last on Match of the Day since 2005.

Hardly a shock.
Mind you I suppose it opens the way for him to take the Spurs job when Harry takes the England post :lol2

When West Brom (harshly) sacked Di Matteo last season, it proved to be a good move because there was a better alternative available in Roy Hodgson. I just don't see a manager that Wolves could get beyond the same old faces.

This is a bit unfair on Mick McCarthy.

Sandy - I trust you approve of this as you must still be sure of Wolves ability to win the league :lol2

On a slightly more serious note though, losing 5-1 at home is always going to put a struggling manager under severe pressure but when it’s against your arch rivals you really are pretty much ffuked.
The final straw was now the fans had turned on him en masse.

No surprise really, Wolves really need a fresh face in charge before their decline becomes terminal.

I'd like to nominate Sam Allardyce for the Wolves job.

He is a top manager with an astounding CV and I'll be more than happy to give him a blinding reference. We West Ham fans shouldn't be selfish and want to keep him when an oppurtunity like this arises.

Please take him.

On the one hand not a surprise on the other, who is going to take them on and keep them up?

Probably would have been better off sticking with Mick for this season and seeing how things pan out and then binning him in the summer if necessary.

I'm unsure about this. I think it's slightly harsh but at the same time they have spent money and do have a squad that is probably capable of staying up so perhaps a change will inject that extra bit of fight in them. Can't see who they're going to get, actually it's bound to be Bruce or Warnock neither of which will be a step up :lol

It didn't help when Football Focus built up Wolves expectations at the beginning of the season saying that they are now an established Premier League team that won't be looking over their shoulders at relegation :lol

Slightly harsh but not at all surprised, like Sandy said losing 5-1 at home to relegation rivals who are local was always likely to be the end.

It's getting hilarious the amount of people turning them down now; Curbishley (twice), McDermott, Poyet, Smith....

They really don't want Bruce :lol2

Why would anyone want Bruce??? His track record is either spending loads of money and under-performing or doing ok with a smaller club and then jumping ship as soon as something else comes along.
