That debt has come down a decent amount the last couple of years. At this rate we'll be debt free in around 6 years (although I imagine the payback rate will slow down once the debt is lowered), no doubt some will still be saying we're doomed though.

I would be concerned if we were floated on the Singapore Stock Exchange just as that could make things a little murky but at the same time it would be a great way to free up funds and after the early Champions League exit this season then it could be the perfect time to do just that.

Nice to see there is still a sizeable amount in the bank too :thumbsup

Yup figures in football are scarily ridiculous, that's why I'm always glad to see our debt now being rapidly paid off rather than being left to stagnate as it was in the first couple of seasons after the takeover because there just can't possibly much money to be gotten out of football than what we're currently raking in, there just can't. The bubble football is in has to burst, or at least shrink, at some point.

Debts came down, that's all good but that's still such a scary amount of debt it's crazy.

The debt continues to be alarming, as is the amount of money needed to service it. Operating costs have increased, while our bank balance has dropped by £100m for a variety of reasons - transfers, stadium improvements such as hospitality boxes and buying back bonds that were issued in 2010.

As it's been pointed out, I just don't see how even the Glazers can squeeze much more revenue out of the club as we must be reaching a plateau soon.

The debt was never going to be a problem for Man Utd unless they dropped out of the Champions League places somehow. They've done a good job from a business perspective, but at the cost of doing what a lot of American sports team have done by pricing out average fans from regularly going to games.

So I take it that not progressing to the knockout stages of the CL and the main stages of the Cups won't make a difference to revenue? At least they seem to be a little more sensible in expenditure on player transfers than the other mob down the road.

Why isn't there anything about profits in that news? Debt over 100% of their turnover? I thought it was much smaller. I'd love to buy a football club with that amount of leverage and then increase prices to match the demand that's out there. Great business.

I wonder if football is the only area where you can do what the Glazers did and end up owning a £2billion "business" pretty much without even putting your hand in your pocket once. I know we've talk about the United debt and takeover a lot on here but it still amazes how that was even allowed to happen.

Agree Bazza, the fact the Glazers were aloud to takeover Man Utd and run up that debt is crazy, feel for a lot of Man United fans who opposed the Glazers, showed a lot of backbone that many clubs fans in the UK wouldn't have at all.

It was a mortgage. The Glazers need more credit than they get.
